School-Based Support Team
P.S. 135 offers a range of support services to cater to the diverse needs of our students. These services include speech therapy, physical therapy, and occupational therapy (which require a doctor's evaluation and prescription), as well as hearing and vision screening. Related services encompass developmental, corrective, and other supportive services implemented to assist a child with a disability in functioning to the best of their ability. Your child’s related services may change from pre-school to school age as their needs change. Related services may be the only special education service provided to your child, or they may be offered in conjunction with special education services.

The School-Based Support Team (SBST) consists of a School Psychologist, a School Social Worker, and a Family Worker. The SBST can conduct an initial evaluation for students without an IEP and re-evaluations for students with an IEP. Beyond their role in evaluating students for Special Education services, these professionals also provide essential support services to all students and their parents or guardians. Their dedication ensures that our school community receives the comprehensive support it needs.
