At P.S. 135, we strive to promote the passion for learning in every student while recognizing that each child has unique learning styles and interests. Our teachers blend rigorous academics with experiential learning to provide a real-world context for core subjects, fostering deeper understanding and enthusiasm.
Our teachers prioritize a dynamic classroom environment and foster a comprehensive support system that promotes lifelong learning and growth.

Academic Classrooms

General Education
General education classrooms are taught by one teacher. There is usually at least one general education classroom per grade level, but that number may vary depending on interest and qualifying students.
Integrated
Co-Teaching (ICT)
Integrated Co-Teaching (ICT) classrooms are designed to create a challenging and enriching learning environment for both general education students (60% of the class) and children with Individualized Education Plans (40% of the class). The class is co-taught by two teachers, a general education teacher and a special education teacher. These two teachers work as a team to make any necessary adaptations to methods and techniques to meet the needs of all students. The curriculum and expectations are identical to any other classroom of that grade.
Special Class Services
Special Classes are provided in a self-contained classroom. All of the children in the classroom have IEPs with needs that cannot be met in a general education classroom. They are taught by special education teachers who provide specialized instruction.
